In the hot seat 1 September 2009

Mastermind, Millionaire, even The Weakest Link. They all involve more than a hint of the hot seat. Copywriting can also involve a stay in the big chair. I started thinking about this after a recent conversation with a client. I was finalising work on new web copy for their business rebrand and just following up some loose ends. My client commented “As well as the writer for this project, we see you as the editor, overseeing the progress of things.” His point was that in a busy organisation with bases across the country, they didn’t have time to stop and coordinate this one-off project. So as well as the behind the scenes job of writing the actual copy, my job can also be front of house – working for a winning result for the client. I think Magnus Magnusson would have approved.
