It's not me, it's you 19 August 2009
Afterwards is one of the most interesting parts of the copywriting process. After I’ve been briefed, written the copy and sent it over is when I get to find out what the client thinks. It’s time for the all-important final tweaks, for the adding, subtracting and amending. Yesterday I followed up on a project with a client. He was pleased with his website copy, but asked about adding something else about the quality of his service. Then he quickly said, “But this is your craft. You know best about what will work in the content.” While it was nice to be acknowledged, I disagreed. My response? “It’s your copy for your business and you need to feel completely comfortable with the message you’re putting out there.” To me, that’s not compromise. It’s common sense.
