Capital letters are bad for your health, according to the US federal highway administration.
It’s not only that writing in capitals makes you sound like you’re shouting.
Or that it can get you fired.
Now the proven safety risks mean that blanket big lettering is to be banned from the streets of the Big Apple. There’s the inevitable outbreak of outrage at the changes. But I think it’s good news (aside from the enormous cost).
As with copy online or on the page, it’s better to make a statement than overstate your case.
