How to make your mark 12 February 2010

The pigs make me smile every Tuesday. On my way to a regular weekly meeting, I can’t help looking at this brilliant mosaic created by The Art Organisation. All that colour and daftness in a busy city street never fails to please my eye. It’s a regular reminder about the power of creating – or writing – something that is unique. The mosaic turns a long-empty building into a story about the hard work of local artists and support groups (and pigs reaching the end of the rainbow). Like copy that brings to life what an organisation does, this artwork adds a new and distinctive splash to familiar surroundings. Trying a fresh approach can change the way we see things. And making your mark with something rather more humdrum? Pigs might fly.
